Teeth replacements can take several forms and upon completion of a comprehensive oral examination and the latest digital radiograph imaging our dentist will fully explain all your treatment options to you. The most common tooth replacement options are bridges, dentures or dental implants. The amount of teeth that need to be replaced and their positioning will determine which option or combination of options is right for your particular case. When one tooth needs to be replaced or several teeth that are spread over different parts of the mouth need to be replaced often our doctor will recommend Shorewood dental implants. A titanium implant is surgically placed in the jawbone under the gum. Over time the bone and gum will heal and the implant will fuse with the bone making it very strong and secure. A post or abutment will then be placed on the implant and a crown will be placed on top of the post finishing off the new tooth. This implanted tooth will function and looks like the patient’s natural teeth. A series of implant, minus the crowns can also be used to anchor a set of full or partial dentures, which gives them a very secure hold without the need for denture adhesives.

If there are no teeth or very few natural teeth remaining in an area of the patient’s mouth our teeth replacement option of choice may be dentures. Full dentures can be used to replace the full upper or lower set of teeth and partial dentures will replace teeth from a part of the jaw. These artificial teeth are placed in a gum-like substrate that is made to fit snugly over the upper or lower gums. Dentures are usually removed overnight for cleaning. Dentures that are attached to Shorewood dental implants as anchors can either be permanently fixed or removable. If missing teeth are affecting your life please come see our doctor.
